Pearl L. Graham left this world on June 22, 2019, to be with her Lord in Heaven. As sad as we are on her passing, she has looked forward to joining her husband, now with the Lord.
She was ninety-five when she passed, after a short hospitalization in the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center. Born in Guadalupe County, she resided in Seguin for more than eighty years. Her ties to this community extended back over one hundred years.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Perry E. Graham, her parents Paul and Lillie Knodel, and grandparents William and Wilhermina Knodel, and George and Molly Seay, all lifelong members of the Guadalupe County community. She is also preceded in death by her sister Virginia Jahns, brother Paul Knodel, and sister Marjorie “Tuddy” Knodel who passed away as a young girl many years ago.
Pearl is survived by three sons and daughters-in-laws, Perry and Linda of Houston, Kenneth and Carol of San Antonio, and Patrick and Carla of Austin. She is also survived by sister Inez Roe of San Antonio and brother Edgar Knodel of Guadalupe County. She doted over her ten grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Pearl and Perry married in 1942 as World War II broke out. Perry was in the Army and served in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge. He and Pearl went on to a career in the Air Force. During the war, Pearl served at home while working at Kelly AFB and caring for the oldest son.
Pearl stayed at home caring for her husband, sons, and others. A longtime member of Emanuel’s Lutheran Church, she volunteered for years in the Vacation Bible School. Pearl was a shining example of The Greatest Generation.
