Our free spirit has gone to her heavenly home.

On Monday, April 22, 2019, Daisy J. Carey, loving wife and beloved mother of four children, passed away at the age of 85.

Daisy was born on September 14, 1933 in Houston, Texas. She grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and married Harold W. Ganong. The family moved to Alaska in the late 1950’s, where they lived primarily in Anchorage and Palmer, AK. Daisy remarried in 1975 to Don J. Carey, and they moved from Alaska to their current residence in Seguin, Texas in 1988.

Daisy was a fun loving person, always quick to share a smile. Her sunny disposition was enjoyed by all.

Daisy loved to travel to Alaska in the summers, spending time with her children and grandchildren. If you threw in a few trips to the bingo hall, or a slot machine or two, all the better! She was an active member of The Red Hat Society serving as Queen, and especially enjoyed the time spent with these wonderful ladies.

Daisy loved being with family and friends alike, and we were honored and blessed to have her.

She is survived by her husband Don Carey, daughters Sandy and Lori Ganong, son, Keith Ganong, sisters Evelyn Day, Doris Hammock, Patsy Sherrouse, Margie Elrod Smith, grandchildren, Keith Andersen, Jesse Lye, Jennifer Lye, Garrett Buchanan, Dustin Ganong, Kelly Schulman, Colten Gorder and Olivia Gorder, great grandchildren Audrey and Rafe Lawton, Landen and Ashlyn Buchanan, Elyah, Valencia and Ailsie Lye, and Phoenix and Leo Bishop. Her good friends, Rosalie, Gene, Patsy, Jonelle, Lance and Michelle Scurto, and too many others to name.

Daisy is preceded in death by her birth parents, Walter Henderson and Helen Maurer Stewart, her mother and father, George and Louise Conoly, daughter, Dorinda Ganong, brothers Walter, Leslie, Marvin and Kelly Henderson and Newton Stewart.

A Celebration of Daisy’s life will be held in Houston, Texas on June 22nd.
