Sergeant Major Danny Lee Fowler, United States Army (Ret.), age 69 passed away on May 2, 2016.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Andy Smith and Rev. Ron Welborn officiating.
Danny was born December 14, 1946 in Devine, Texas to Leo and Edna Lee (Labenske) Fowler. SGM Fowler served with the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) A Team. His mission was to train various components of the militaries of friendly countries in unconventional warfare. After high school he joined the Army and completed the Basic Airborne Course and served on active jump status throughout his career. His proud moment was to be called a “Paratrooper.” After 24 years of honorable service he retired and worked as a government contractor supporting military missions in the Middle East. Danny is preceded in death by his parents and wife Heidi Marie Fowler. He is survived by his sister Evelyn Townley and husband Tom; nephew Jens Sulima; nieces Christie Voter, Shanna Townley, Lindsey Culpepper; 7 grand-nephews and nieces.
