Harold D. Young (Tiny), age 75, of San Antonio passed away on Aug. 5, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Harold was born in Hinton, West Virginia on Feb. 15, 1942 to Moody and Vida Young. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmer Bennett, sister Dolores, brothers in law Jimmy Arce, Donald Lane and James Miller, and his niece, Patricia Arce Garrett.
Harold was an Air Force Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed bowling, softball, hunting and fishing. Harold retired from Southwest Research Institute after 25 years of service.
He is survived by wife Amelia Young, daughter Deborah Alvarez and husband Thom, grandchildren Stacie and Stephanie Alvarez, sister Betty Lane-Miller, brother Billy Joe Young and wife Joyce, sisters in law Ophelia Arce and Maria A. Resendez and niece EvaMarie Lane.
The Holy Rosary will be recited at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (409 W. Krezdorn, Seguin, Tx. 78155) on Sept. 30, 2017 at 10 a.m. with a memorial mass to follow at 10:30. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Drengler and the staff at the START Center in San Antonio, the staff at Methodist Transplant Hospital, VA Shavano Clinic and VITAS Hospice for the care Harold received throughout his illness. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or charity of one’s choice.
