Martha Jean Cowey Polanovich, 69, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend lost her battle with cancer Tuesday, July 31, 2012.
Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
Martha was a true lover of life and fought graciously for every day she was with us, despite ongoing bouts during a decade of cancer and decades of rheumatoid arthritis. Always a generous optimist, Martha was known for her ability to see the good in everything and everyone. She was always offering a kind word, helping hand, anything she could offer a friend in need. She was renowned for her openness and desire to connect with everyone in her path, and she never met a stranger in her life. She was loved deeply by many and will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel T. Cowey Sr. and Viola Martha Cook Cowey; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and friends.
Survivors: Husband, Paul T. Polanovich; sons, Paul and Pryor Polanovich; daughter, Julianne Underwood and husband, Corey, of Austin; brothers, Samuel T. Cowey II and wife, Betty, of Hemet, Calif, John Earl Cowey and wife, Barbara, of Houston; one glorious grandson, Dutch Adler Underwood; and so many wonderful cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends that made her life so rich but are too numerous to list here.
