Local boxer Rudy “Ruru” Santiago Silvas is fighting for something much more. To fully understand that, you’d have to walk a mile in his shoes — or perhaps run the five he usually runs in the afternoons while at work.

Through setbacks and hardships he’s had to face and endure over the past two years of his life, this Saturday’s fight against Galindo Jose at a boxing event hosted by TMB Promotions in the Floresville Event Center will culminate in all he’s worked to overcome.
