Every little girl’s dream of having a real tea party is coming true this weekend at the Dietz-Castilla Doll House.

Complete with tea cakes, tea and an etiquette lesson, the Seguin Conservation Society is throwing a tea party for mothers, daughters, cousins and friends called the Tip Your Cup to Summer event at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Doll House, 415 S. River St.

“At the Conservation Society, we do a lot of events. In the fall we have our Seguin Birthday Party and the Christmas Tour of Homes in the winter, but we don’t really have anything in the spring,” said Annie Perry, SCS board member and event coordinator. “Originally we had tried to do this event a little earlier, but Easter was running so late this year, so in years to come we’ll have this event in the spring.”

To start off the event, local resident Candi Andrews plans to give a miniature lesson on the proper way to have tea.

“She loves tea and knows so much about tea. She goes to tea all over,” Perry said. “She’s going to be doing an etiquette lesson about high tea and what the difference between the types of tea are and the type of etiquette you have at a tea versus at a dinner.”

Guests also have the opportunity to hear some music from local musician Dottsy Dwyer.

“Dottsy Dwyer will be singing and it will be on the grounds of the Doll House so it will be lovely. I’m hoping it will look like a kids tea party because we’ll have lots of teapots and doilies and flowers,” Perry said.

A tea party photo booth will be available as well as tours of some of the Seguin Conservation Society’s historical properties, Perry said.

“We hope the kids can learn the history of the Doll House and why we have the Doll House in Seguin and why it’s important we preserve these properties and these traditions,” she said.

Mother and daughter tickets are $20 while an additional daughter is $5 and an extra adult is $10. All tickets can be purchased at Gift and Gourmet, Keepers Interiors and the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce.
