SEGUIN — Investigators are searching for clues about how a vacant home caught fire Saturday morning.

Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Walnut street for a report of a structure fire around 9:30 a.m.

Crews were able to douse the flames that damaged one room before it spread to the rest of the home, said Seguin Fire Marshal Greg Dreiss.

Dreiss said he was investigating the incident but declined to comment on how the fire could have started.

“The house was vacant and the electricity was shut off,” he said. “No injuries have been reported at this time.”

If anybody has any information on the fire they are asked to call Dreiss at 830-401-2312 or leave an anonymous tip through the Texas State Arson Hotline 1-877-4FIRE45 (1-877-434-7345).
