Drivers may find themselves avoiding a small strip of North Austin Street near downtown for the next few days.

The southbound lane of the 100 block of North Austin Street between Court and Gonzales streets is expected to be shut down temporarily during the day until Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019.

“There’s a development contractor that is doing some work down there for the building nearby. It appears that the southbound lane is going to be closed while the work is happening from now and until next Wednesday,” Seguin public information officer Jennifer Sourdellia said.

The developer of the nearby building is looking to connect water service to it as it’s being remodeled, she said.

While crews are out working, the lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day, Sourdellia said.

“The crews are going to be working down there between the hours of 9 and 3 and during that time traffic is going to be detoured onto Mountain and Gonzales Streets,” Sourdellia said.

All of the businesses along the southbound lane are expected to remain open during the roadwork, Sourdellia said.
