SEGUIN — A Seguin man was arrested after allegedly slicing another man’s throat on Monday.
Seguin Police Detective Bruno Cavazos said a 52-year-old Seguin resident was attacked at a convenience store on North Austin Street around 8:15 p.m.
“When officers arrived they observed a black male had been cut in the neck area,” he said. “Witnesses reported that a Hispanic male wearing black clothing walked into the store and cut him.”
The victim had a pair of cuts on his neck — one about five inches long, Cavazos said. He was taken to Guadalupe Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Witnesses were able to give officers enough information to locate a possible suspect, Cavazos said.
“With help from the witnesses we were able to get a license plate number and were able to identify the suspect,” he said.
Ernest Baldera, 40, of Seguin, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, booked into Guadalupe County Jail and is being held on $50,000.
Cavazos said it is unknown at this time what caused Baldera to attack the victim.
The incident is under investigation.
