Although born in Switzerland slightly more than 200 years ago, and educated in Germany as a theologian and ecclesiastical scholar, Philip Schaff lived most of his life writing and teaching here in the United States. His countless essays, speeches and sermons are still widely quoted today all across the world despite being written so long ago.
One of his most famous pieces of work written in the latter part of the 19th century eloquently describes the impact of the life of Jesus Christ and his influence upon our world. Here’s a portion of that commanding essay:
