These past few weeks, softball and baseball teams from across the area have given us something to cheer for.

They faced tough opponents and rose above.

Each of our local teams made it to the playoffs and fought for every run and every one.

And while they each bowed out in a different round, they all have something to be proud of.

They never gave up.

They played each game with the mindset of wanting to win.

And they did it with poise.

The Seguin Lady Matadors team and the Navarro Lady Panthers went the distance fighting their way deep into the playoff bracket — Navarro just a couple of hits and a couple of runs away from making an appearance at state. Then there’s Texas Lutheran Bulldog softball and baseball teams.

The baseball team made it to the Super Regionals, while the softball team fought their way to the NCAA DIII Softball World Series. (Championship games hadn’t been played as of press time.)

They have all given us all something to be proud of as we cheered them and felt their pain after the final outs were called.

Sports, as they say, are a metaphor for life. And if the seasons our area teams had this year are any indication, Guadalupe County is churning out a host of future winners to help lead this county and this country into victories on and off the ball field.

We look forward to future endeavors and future greatness from the players.
