2019 Biggest Small Town Fourth of July Parade

Members of the American Legion honor guard raise the flag in honor of Independence Day during the Biggest Small Town Fourth of July Parade on Thursday, July 4, 2019 in Seguin.

Seguin celebrated the Independence Day holiday the only way it knows how to celebrate - with style.

With the Biggest Small Town Fourth of July Parade, the Field of Honor and a stellar fireworks extravaganza over the city’s Starcke Park, area residents had plenty of opportunity to celebrate.

Of course, without the hard work of city employees and scores of volunteers, the Fourth of July could have been a dud.

Instead, we had explosions, fellowship and fun.

And it seemed to pay off. People packed along the parade route on Thursday morning, waving flags and cheering as local floats - and those visiting from other nearby communities like Luling and Floresville - wheeled down historic Austin Street through the heart of Seguin’s downtown.

None of it would have been possible without the coordination, planning and hard work of the people involved.

If you enjoyed yourself over this Fourth of July holiday, take time to say thanks to the organizers of these events or to the volunteers who make them all possible.

Because these are such giant undertakings, chances are the crews will enjoy the weekend and begin working on the 2020 version of these events right away.

They deserve a pat on the back for all they did to make this year’s July 4th celebration worth remembering forever.
