As a proud graduate of Seguin schools and as someone with keen interest in Seguin ISD, I am encouraged by the vision of SISD’s current superintendent and by the efforts of the SISD Board to build for the future.

In particular, I am grateful and excited that the Facilities Committee has included Jefferson Avenue ELEMENTARY as a campus to be upgraded in the “Tier 1” commitments. My own mother (Kay Keehn) taught at Jefferson in the 1960s. I myself (as Susan Strecker) had wonderful teaching years at Jefferson in the 1990s.

Jefferson is a beloved neighborhood school, but it needs attention! This enhancement will allow Jefferson to continue to thrive and to be at the forefront of growth and development occurring in Seguin’s southwest quadrant.

Although my university career moved me away from my “hometown,” I so wish I were eligible to support the 2019 Bond Election.

For all those alumni who don’t live is Seguin but support this bond I have a solution for your problem. The district will accept donations! Based on median home prices of the Seguin area it will only cost around $55/year in donations for your missing “Yes” vote (This may change annually based on home prices.)The great part about donating is you can do it anonymously and you can specify exactly where the money should be spent, in this case Jefferson elementary renovations.
So, all you “yes” votes who moved away don’t fret, just open the old check book and donate to Seguin ISD.
