SEGUIN — A 17-year-old Seguin resident was arrested on a misdemeanor marijuana allegation Friday by an officer dispatched to check out alleged drug-related activity.
According to a Seguin Police Department report, Justin Soto was booked for the alleged possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana after the officer found the young man with another individual in a vehicle just after 6 p.m.
800 block, West Court Street
SEGUIN — Nothing was missing in a burglary discovered just after midnight Tuesday morning.
According to a police report, an officer on patrol in the 800 block of West Court Street at 12:09 a.m. noticed the lights on at a business — and the front door open.
Police locked the building up and contacted the owner, who said the business had been closed and secured at 5 p.m.
There was no indication of a break-in.
Investigation continues.
800 block, Boenig Street
SEGUIN — A DVD was taken in a burglary reported Monday night, police say.
A resident of the 800 block of Boenig reported leaving and locking the residence at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Upon return at 10:20 p.m. the DVD player, which had been in the living room of the home, was found missing.
It was worth about $35.
No sign of forced entry was found.
1400 block, North Austin
SEGUIN — Police are looking for a woman who allegedly tried to steal a bag of clothes but dropped the items while making her escape.
According to a police report, the victim, who was unloading a Silverado, left the passenger’s side door open and went into a building for a moment.
The woman walked by, the report said, reached into the cab of the pickup and took a bag containing a skirt and a blouse.
The victim saw the woman, and chased her, the report said. As the suspect rounded a corner, she dropped the bag and escaped.
Responding officers were unable to find the woman, the report said.
1000 block, Prexy Drive
SEGUIN — A stereo system was reported taken in a “smash and grab” burglary discovered early Monday.
According to a police report, the owner of a 1994 Silverado pickup reported parking the vehicle at around midnight Monday morning.
Upon return at 6 a.m., the truck’s passenger side window was discovered smashed out and the vehicle’s CD player and speakers, worth about $700, were gone.
There were also pry marks on the vehicle’s passenger door, but no entry was made, the report said.
1400 block, North San Marcos Street
SEGUIN — A 31-year-old Seguin man was arrested on drug allegations after a traffic stop Friday afternoon.
Police reported seeing a 1998 Jeep Cherokee fail to signal a turn in the 1400 block of San Marcos at about 6:30 p.m. Friday, and stopping the vehicle, which was driven by Gerald Mendoza.
A records check revealed Mendoza was wanted for three municipal court warrants, and he was booked.
During the booking, the additional allegations of possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana and possession of less than 1 gram of a controlled substance were added to the municipal charges, the report said.
Mendoza was taken to county jail.
700 block, River Street
SEGUIN — A flat screen television was taken in a burglary Sunday evening, police say.
A resident of the 700 block of River Street reported locking and leaving home at about 7 p.m.
Upon return at 10 p.m., the front door of the home appeared to have been kicked in.
The 32-inch television was worth $500, the report said.
500 block, Interstate 10 East
SEGUIN — A man took a socket set in a theft reported Monday afternoon.
According to a police report, the manager of the store reported a male had walked into the store and put items in his pockets — and walked out without paying for them.
A $20 socket wrench set was known taken in the 4:30 p.m. incident.
The man escaped in a vehicle before the manager could stop him.
Investigation continues.
