Two teams still licking their wounds from setbacks in their season openers will meet on Friday night when the Navarro Panthers host the La Vernia Bears.

The Panthers are coming off a tough 33-28 loss to Port Lavaca Calhoun in what was a back-and-forth contest until Calhoun scored on a late 71-yard touchdown to take the lead for good. That was part of a night in which Navarro surrendered 461 rushing yards.
