In the Specials tournaments, the 8-year-olds progressed undefeated through the first three games of the tournament, beating New Braunfels White on the way, 12-8, before facing them again in the two West Zone Championship games.

Just one game away from a district championship series with the East Zone winners, Seguin fell on two successive nights last week, losing the first game 11-3, but playing much better in the second game, only to fall 4-2 in a close, competitive contest.

The 9-year-old specials had a similar tourney, winning the first two games out of the gate, but falling on two successive nights in New Braunfels.

After a forfeit from Cuero, Seguin beat New Braunfels Blue 13-2, before dropping their last two games of the tournament, 13-11 to Floresville, and then 16-11 to New Braunfels Red for a third-place finish in the tournament.

The 8-year-old softball team won the West Zone, and played East Zone winners Halletsville for the district championship.

In a three-game series over the weekend, Seguin pushed Halletsville to the limit, falling 9-7 in game one Friday night, bouncing back for a 10-8 win on Saturday, but losing in the championship game, 9-7.

The 13-14 Specials finished the district tournament with a 3-2 mark, beating Nixon twice, and New Braunfels once, but falling in the finals to New Braunfels to finish second in the tournament.
