Four area volleyball teams faced fierce competition on Friday, but only one squad found themselves taking home a district win.

Marion (5-4, 6-13) proved the lone team to come out on top Friday for a 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-16) sweep over the Luling Eagles. Matador volleyball (0-5, 2-8) dropped matches to Buda Johnson (25-21, 18-25, 25-27, 22-25) and state-ranked Canyon (25-9, 25-12, 25-8) over the weekend, and Navarro took previously upset La Vernia to five on Friday night.
