SEGUIN — Broadway isn’t the only place to find great theater.

The Seguin Art Center is bringing the Tony Award-nominated play, “Plaza Suite,” to Seguin beginning Nov. 13. Plaza Suite was written by Neil Simon in 1968. It is a three-act play with three separate stories set in one hotel room over different periods of time.

Director Pat Hoppe said the play has something for everyone.

“It is a comedy and a drama,” Hoppe said. “Neil Simon is such a gifted playwright. He had a way of portraying things in life that are bittersweet. He could zoom in on those little things in everyday life and make them beautiful.”

Hoppe said this is her first time directing, and the Simon play was the perfect choice.

“Our set is just beautiful,” Hoppe said. “We’re working with some great actors and actresses, and a good story with delicious lines.”

Amy Pawelek, who plays Norma Hubley in the third act, said the cast and crew have been working hard to make the play a success.

“I just love this play,” Pawelek said. “We’ve really put our heart and soul into it. Everyone will be pleased that they got to see such a great show here in Seguin.”

The play will be showing at the Mosaic Community Church on Friday and Saturday evenings (Nov. 13, 14, 20, and 21) starting at 8 p.m. Nov. 15, and Nov. 22 will have Sunday matinee performances starting at 2 p.m.

Friday and Saturday shows will be in a dinner theater format. A cash bar reception with light hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6:30 p.m., with dinner to follow at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

The Sunday matinee full buffet brunch will begin at 12:30 p.m. with mimosas, followed by a brunch at 1 p.m. The play will then begin at 2 p.m.

Cost per ticket for dinner and show is $25. There will be a limited number of performance-only tickets available at the door for $15 each. Dinner reservations need to be made at least one day in advance.
