Homecoming is an opportunity

Published September 25, 2009

Friday night high school football games are a tradition that attracts fans from all over. And every school has one game a year that is extra special — homecoming.

It is time for Seguin High School to celebrate its homecoming tradition.

The students not only celebrate the homecoming night but they have dedicated a whole week to spirit and boosting morale for the past four days leading up to last night’s Community Pep Rally.

Throughout the week the kids dressed to impress as they “Rocked Across the Ages” in attire from the ’50s, ’70s, ’80s and the future.

Prior to last night’s pep rally students, families and fans braved the cool, rainy weather to fill the curbs lining College, Lamar and Cedar streets as athletes, coaches, spirit leaders and band members march toward Matador Stadium in a spirit parade. The evening ended with the traditional lighting of the burning “M” to get the players, students, families and fans excited for the big game.

As Seguin High School celebrates homecoming tonight at Matador Stadium all are encouraged to attend — not only to see who will be crowned this year’s king and queen — but to support the home team.

The Matadors will be lining up against Canyon High School Cougars in a fight to win its first district game.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the homecoming court will be announced during the halftime show. Come out, participate in the tradition and cheer the Matadors to victory!
