2200 block, N. Guadalupe St.
SEGUIN — A washer and dryer were taken from the porch of a Guadalupe Street home, police say.
A resident of the 2200 block of North Guadalupe Street reported leaving on Aug. 11 and returning just before midnight Friday to discover the appliances missing from the front porch.
A check of the residence revealed someone had been inside, but there was no indication that anything had been taken.
The missing appliances were worth about $100. The police report did not say what models were involved.
700 block, Ireland Street
SEGUIN — Test equipment and a painkiller prescription were stolen in a vehicle burglary discovered Thursday afternoon.
According to a Seguin Police Department report, the victim reported parking the vehicle during the previous day’s lunch hour.
Upon return, the equipment and the pills were missing. In all, the stolen property was worth about $270, police report.
900 block, W. Court St.
SEGUIN — An undisclosed amount of money was believed stolen from a locked vehicle during a brief Wednesday afternoon visit to a local store.
Police reported the victim said she’d parked her locked 2003 Chevy pickup and went into the store to purchase money orders — leaving her purse in the vehicle.
She returned to the vehicle 10 minutes later, went home and discovered money missing from the purse.
The victim returned to the store and asked if anyone had found it or turned it in and was told they had not.
1200 block, E. Walnut St.
SEGUIN — A burglar lifted cash from a wallet left in a parked car overnight last week, police say.
The victim reported leaving a wallet containing an unstated amount of cash in a 2005 Chrysler Sebring at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Upon return the vehicle at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, it was discovered someone had gotten into the locked car and taken the money that was in the wallet.
600 block E. Kingsbury St.
SEGUIN — A 36-year-old Seguin man was arrested early Saturday after he was caught breaking into the American Legion hall.
According to a Seguin Police Department report, Rene Perez was booked into Guadalupe County Jail on a charge of burglary of a building.
Police went to the H.U. Woods American Legion post at 3:11 a.m. in answer to a reported burglary in progress.
The first officer who arrived found the front door shattered and a rock inside.
The caller had described a suspect, and officers found Perez, who was identified by the witness as the burglary suspect.
Property recovered from behind the building included three 12-packs of beer and a VHS/DVD combo player worth about $175 in all. Damage to the door was estimated at $300, police reported.
500 block, N. Guadalupe St.
SEGUIN — Two men were booked on burglary charges after allegedly forcing their way into a Guadalupe Street home early Sunday and assaulting a resident, police say.
Lorenzo Casarez Jr., 27, and Jacob Gatica, 19, both of Seguin, were booked into jail in the wake of the 4 a.m. incident.
The victim reported answering a knock at the door, and having Casarez and Gatica push their way into his home and hit him in the face. He told police they could be found at a nearby home, and the arrests were made after a short investigation into the confrontation.
The man lost a tooth and suffered cuts in the incident, police said, and was taken to the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center emergency department in an ambulance. He was treated and later released.
1000 block, Interstate 10 East
SEGUIN — A 25-year-old Houston man was arrested on a theft charge after an alleged “beer run” at a convenience store Saturday night.
According to a Seguin Police Department report, Artis Lee Warren Jr. was arrested on an enhanced theft charge in the wake of the 10:40 p.m. incident.
Officers who went to the store were told a man went in, picked up two beers and walked out without paying for them.
The clerk gave them a description that matched Warren’s, and when he was discovered nearby with two beers in-hand, police brought him back to the store, where he was identified.
Warren was booked for the alleged theft of less than $1,500 with two or more prior convictions. He remained in county jail Monday. His bail is $5,000.
600 block, S. Hwy 46
SEGUIN — Two boxes of tools were taken in a burglary of a storage unit discovered last week.
Police reported the victim went to the storage unit Wednesday afternoon and discovered that someone had cut the lock off.
Upon looking inside, the victim learned that two boxes of hand tools were missing.
The missing tools were worth about $300, police reported.
