TLU’s Jamie Jahns honored

SEGUIN — Texas Lutheran senior middle blocker Jamie Jahns received Honorable Mention on the 2009 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III All-South Region Team.
Jahns, a native of Spring, Texas and a product of Klein Collins High School, started four seasons for the Bulldogs. She was a three-time selection to the American Southwest Conference All-Conference Team and a three-time selection to the ASC West Division First Team.
In Jahns’ four years with the Bulldogs, TLU won three ASC West Division titles and one ASC crown (2007). The Bulldogs advanced to the ASC Championship Tournament semifinal round in each of her four seasons.
TLU won the conference crown in Jahns’ sophomore season, and she was an ASC All-Tournament selection in that championship run.
Jahns was the 2007 ASC West Division Co-Player of the Year and led TLU to a berth in the 2007 NCAA Division III Championships.
In 2009, Jahns recorded 349 kills and averaged 3.20 kills per game. She hit .266 with 22 service aces and a team-best 70 blocks.
For her career, Jahns finished fourth all-time in the TLU volleyball record book in four different career categories: total kills (1,408), kills per game (3.34), total attempts (3,355), and hitting percentage (.275).
With Jahns in the starting lineup, TLU produced an 80-36 overall record with a 62-10 mark in the ASC.
Texas Lutheran finished 2009 with a 20-10 overall record. The Bulldogs were 14-4 in the ASC West Diision. TLU advanced to the ASC Championship Tournament semifinal, where the team lost to eventual conference champion University of Texas at Dallas.
