Alfred E. Seidel

Alfred E. Seidel a loving father and husband passed away Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Christus Santa Rosa New Braunfels at the age of 85.

He was born September 23, 1924 in String Prairie, Texas to Frank and Rosie Seidel. Mr. Seidel was a custom home builder for many years building over 1,000 homes in the surrounding New Braunfels area. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in the New Ginny area with the 742 battalion as an MP. Mr. Seidel was a Cub Scout Leader, a member of the Lions Club, the Holy Name Society, a lifetime member of the VFW, past member of the American Legion, former member of the Knights of Columbus, and had served on the Industrial Board in New Braunfels.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years Ann Seidel; children, Leland Seidel and his wife Sandra, Darlene Burris and her husband David, Darwin Seidel and his wife Julie, Donnie Seidel, Sharon Martin and her husband Jim, Deanna Allison and her husband Mark; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Edna Behrens, Hilda Frerich; sister-in-law Roberta Seidel and his faithful canine friend Andy. Preceding him in death were his parents; 12 siblings; a daughter Shirley Ann Seidel; his first wife Velma Seidel; and a great-grandchild.

Visitation will begin at noon Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Zoeller Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7 p.m. at Zoeller Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Saints Peter and Paul Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Burris, Damon Burris, Virgil Seidel, Patrick Seidel, Tom Gittinger, and Don Dukarm. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Peterson, Donald Burris, David Burris, Jim Whitley, Dr. Dewey Peace, Rudi Fernandes, Dr. Frank Rubalcava, and Dr. Mario Rossbach. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital New Braunfels, Dr. Mario Rossbach, Dr. Frank Rubalcava, Dr. Steven Slagle, Dr. Lin Johnson, and Dr. Ted Trusevich for all their wonderful care. Those wishing to make memorial contributions may make them to the charity of one’s choice.
