Gene Patterson Sr. passed away on Dec. 21, 2009 at the age of 54 after a year-long struggle with brain cancer.

Gene served at Bergstrom Air Force Base in both active and reserve status and was also a civil servant with the US Coast Guard. Gene finished his career as a lead maintenance technician at Tyson Foods. He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Patterson Sr.; his son Dean Patterson; and companion Patsy Long. He is survived by his mother, Janet Patterson; brother Ross Patterson Jr.; brother Wayne Patterson; sister Sharon Sembera; sister Christy Lynn; son James Sanders; son Gene Patterson Jr.; daughter Tracie Strecker; daughter Dawn Gutierrez; and Bobby Jo Henk plus 14 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Goetz Funeral Home in Seguin, Texas on Wednesday, Dec. 23 from 5-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. at Goetz Memorial Chapel with interment following at Mission South Burial Park in San Antonio. An online register book may be found at www.mem.com .
