Girls basketball rundown

MARION — The Lady Bulldogs (5-1) used solid performances from a trio of seniors in vanquishing the Hondo Lady Owls Tuesday night, winning 55-46 at home.
Ashley Jacobsen (14 points), Reyna Noriega (13 points) and Maegan Hartman (10 points) all scored in double-figures for Marion, which jumped out to a 29-20 lead at halftime and played Hondo to a 26-26 tie in the third and fourth quarters.
Besides leading the team in scoring, Jacobsen, Noriega and Hartman each notched two steals apiece to lead head coach Kollyn McWhinney’s team on the defensive end, with Deidra Reasor and Rachel Farris each recording steals as well.
Reasor added five points, three rebounds and five assists, while Farris pulled down eight boards and added three points and two blocked shots. Kyana Fennell recorded five points and three rebounds in the win.
Next up for the Lady Bulldogs is their home tournament, which kicks off Thursday at 1:30 p.m. against Devine.
Lady Panthers lose by 10
SMITHVILLE — Navarro (4-3) simply couldn’t find the basket enough on Tuesday night, falling to Smithville 36-26.
The Lady Panthers found themselves down just 21-17 at the half, but the comeback effort was not meant to be, as Navarro managed just nine points in the second half.
Burgandy Partain led the way with nine points for the Lady Panthers, while Valerie Vrana added six and Shelby Zamzow put in four.
Sierra Williams, Samantha Nichols and Casey Braun each finished with two points apiece, while Baylie West notched one.
Navarro will play in its home tournament this weekend, although game times have yet to be disclosed.
