Applause for the chamber’s awards

Published September 27, 2009

It’s easy, in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, to forget the people who make things in our community hum.

The Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce knows that, which is why it always takes time during its annual banquet to put a spotlight on those special men and women.

By honoring Mike Heckmann who picked up the award for the Ambassador of the Year, Zee and Kenneth Pape who were winners of the Tourism Partner Award, Beverley Hartwick, who received the Agriculture Award, Irma Lewis, who won the Education Award or Buddy and Jenny Siltman who picked up the community service award, the chamber showed that it understands the diversity of Seguin and Guadalupe County.

It also showed that it understands that part of its mission — which includes marketing this community — is made easier because of the efforts of those people.

It also gave special recognition to the Seguin ISD school board for the district’s recognized status — another selling point that makes selling this city to prospective businesses and visitors a little easier.

All of these honorees are well deserving of the awards they received, and we are proud to have them represent our community, just as we are proud of our chamber of commerce for taking the time to honor them.

When you see them around town, make sure to thank them for making our city a better place for everyone.
