Carolyn Allison Hyatt

Carolyn Allison Hyatt, age 69, of Seguin, passed away on Aug. 26, 2009.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Purdy and the Rev. Ron Welborn officiating. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.

Carolyn was born on Sept. 24, 1939 in San Antonio to Aubry Elton and Edna Fay Jones Allison. She was a South Side native and attended Hot Wells Schools through the ninth grade. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1957. She attended Southwest Texas State College from 1957-1959 and 1967-1968. Carolyn married George R. (Bob) Hyatt, III Aug. 22, 1959.

Throughout Bob’s military career in the United States Air Force, Carolyn orchestrated 17 moves. Carolyn supported Bob during his 30 year Air Force career raising four children and volunteering at the various bases/communities where they were stationed. In New Mexico she was the administrative assistant to the United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico from 1993-1999. Carolyn and Bob returned to Texas, settling in Seguin in 2000. Carolyn was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she kept the gardens alive. She was a Master Gardener, Master Naturalist, member of the Nogales Garden Club, Delphian Study Club, Volunteer for the Child Advocacy Center and an Interpretive Guide on the Canyon Lake Gorge. She enjoyed sewing and was passionate about gardening and bird watching. Her giving spirit shined through in all she did.

Her father and father-in-law, George R. Hyatt Jr. preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, George R. (Bob) Hyatt III; children, Robert Lee Hyatt II and wife Cindy, Bonnie Allison Wright and husband Mark, John Alan Hyatt and wife Dana and David Howard Hyatt; mother, Edna Allison; brothers, Gary Allison and wife, Barbie and Mike Allison and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Katherine E. Steichen, Benjamin J. Steichen, Robert L. Hyatt, III, Daniel S. Hyatt, Matthew A. Hyatt, Allison R. Wright, Jacob M. Wright, Emma G. Wright, Raechel A. Hyatt and Joshua T. Hyatt; great grandchild, Adrin; mother-in-law, Grace E. Hyatt; sisters-in-law, Grace E. “Kita” Rutherford, Mary Ann Hyatt and Leslie K. Matthews; brother-in-law, James W. “Bill” Hyatt; numerous nieces and nephews and many other loving family and friends.
