BREAKING: 4 in custody in Halloween assault
Published December 4, 2009
SEGUIN — Police arrested four present or past Texas Lutheran University football players Friday in connection with a Halloween night incident in which a member of a rival team was assaulted.
Seguin Police Detective Sgt. Aaron Seidenberger said Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Darrell Hunter issued aggravated assault arrest warrants for Jonathan D. Randle, 22, from Prairie View, Sahr S. Bindi, 26, Ernesto S. Garcia, 23, of Taft, and Joshua D. McNeil, 22, of Killeen. All are now Seguin residents, authorities say.
Bindi was a member of the Bulldogs’ 2006 defensive line, while Garcia played right tackle in 2007. Randle was a 2009 wide receiver and McNeil was a 2009 offensive lineman.
Seguin Police Detective Sgt. Mike McCann arrested Randle, Bindi and Garcia, Seidenberger said. McNeil turned himself in at the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office late Friday afternoon.
Hunter set bail at $100,000 for each of the four men.
Authorities say they were arrested in connection with an incident in which a University of the Incarnate Word football player was beaten up at an off-campus party in Seguin.
If proved at trial, aggravated assault is a first-degree felony punishable by five to 99 years in state prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
