600 block, North Cherry Street
SEGUIN — A lawn mower and a leaf blower were discovered taken Saturday.
Seguin Police Detective Lt. Johnny San Miguel said a Cherry Street resident reported leaving a red push lawn mower and a tan-colored leaf blower in a backyard shed on July 11.
The shed had a tarp nailed over its entryway, and just after 8 p.m. Saturday, the resident noticed the tarp had been opened.
A check of the shed revealed the two landscaping implements were missing, San Miguel said.
400 block, Mesquite Street
SEGUIN — A man in his 80s lost $20 in lottery winnings Saturday morning after leaving a local convenience store.
San Miguel said the man bought the tickets a little before 11 a.m., and walked from the store with them.
He scratched off the tickets and realized he’d won $20 on one and went back inside the store and collected the money.
He walked out of the store with another customer and began walking home, San Miguel said.
The second man engaged him in a conversation, and then reached over, pulled the $20 out of his pocket and ran down the street.
Investigation into the incident continues.
2100 block, North Guadalupe Street
SEGUIN — A wallet was stolen in a brazen nighttime robbery of a Guadalupe Street resident, according to reports.
A resident of the 2100 block of North Guadalupe Street woke up at 11:40 p.m. Sunday when he heard a noise in the front of his house, and then a man came into his bedroom and demanded, “Give me your money.”
The victim reached for his wallet and a handgun, and the two fought over the weapon before the suspect jumped out a window and left, the report said.
No shots were reported fired in the incident, which is being investigated by police detectives.
The report didn’t say how much money was in the wallet.
1600 block, Starcke Street
SEGUIN — Police are looking for a robber who took a man’s money Saturday night — but left the wallet when the victim asked him to.
According to a Seguin Police Department report, a Starcke Street resident reported a man walked up to him in front of his home at 9:20 p.m. and asked for money.
When the victim told the man he had no money, the suspect pulled out a knife, held it to his throat and demanded his wallet.
The suspect began walking away with the wallet when the victim asked if he’d take the cash and leave the wallet.
The man pulled out the bills, dropped the wallet on the ground and fled, police reported.
The report didn’t say how much money was in the wallet.
The incident remained under investigation Monday.
500 block, South Camp Street
SEGUIN — Four laptop computers were stolen in a Camp Street burglary late Thursday or early Friday, police say.
The victim of the theft reported the building was secured at about 5:45 p.m. Thursday.
At 6:30 a.m. Friday, the victim discovered the break-in, police said.
A set of keys was missing from a desk and the four computers, worth $700 each, were missing. In addition, a computer monitor left on the ground outside the building sustained about $200 worth of damage, police report.
An unstated amount of cash was taken from a desk drawer.
200 block, Short Avenue
SEGUIN — Two burglars escaped a search of the Short Avenue neighborhood Thursday afternoon after a resident saw them leaving a neighbor’s house, police say.
According to a Seguin Police Department report, a resident of the 200 block called police at 4:20 p.m. to report seeing two Hispanic males walk from the rear door of a neighbor’s house and then on down the street.
The neighbor called police, and the victim arrived home to find the back door of the home had been kicked in and drawers in its bedroom had been ransacked.
Nothing was believed to have been taken, police said.
800 block, Boenig Street
SEGUIN — A DVD player and an assortment of DVDs worth about $300 were reported stolen in a burglary discovered Friday afternoon.
Police reported a resident of the 800 block of Boenig Street reported securing the residence at 11 a.m.
Upon return at 3:45 p.m., the resident discovered a break-in, according to the police report.
The missing DVD player was worth about $40, police said. About two dozen DVDs were worth around $250.
200 block, Lennox Avenue
SEGUIN — Officers attempting to serve arrest warrants ended up making a drug arrest on a local man Friday night.
According to a Seguin Police Department report, officers looking to serve warrants for Comal County went to the 200 block of Lennox at 9:30 p.m., and saw Rene B. Hernandez, 29, outside a vehicle.
As the police drove up, he moved from the side of the vehicle to the back in an attempt to avoid the officers, but as they informed him they were arresting him on the warrants, he began emptying his pockets — and police say little bags that contained cocaine.
Hernandez was arrested for allegedly engaging in organized criminal activity and for manufacture or delivery of between 4 and 200 grams of a controlled substance, penalty group 1.
He was booked into Guadalupe County Jail, and was being held in lieu of $145,000 bail.
