Police News for September 24, 2009

A. 800 block, East Seideman Street

SEGUIN — An amplifier and speakers were taken in a vehicle burglary at an East Seideman Street residence Saturday night, police say.

The victim reported parking the vehicle at about 7 p.m., and another family member saw someone open its back hatch at about 10 p.m.

Whoever had gotten into the vehicle escaped with the stereo equipment before the victim got outside, police reported.

Value of the missing equipment was placed at about $250.

B. 400 block, West Humphreys Street

SEGUIN — A lawnmower and a child’s bike were discovered missing Monday morning in the burglary of a storage shed behind a Humphreys Street residence.

According to a Seguin Police Department report, the victim reported that sometime after 9 p.m. Sunday, someone got into the back yard, broke the lock on the storage building and took the two missing items, which were worth an estimated $300.

C. 700 block, Stratton Street

SEGUIN — A laptop computer worth $600 was taken by a burglar who took advantage of an unlocked sliding door, police say.

According to a Seguin Police Department report, a resident who secured an apartment at 4:45 p.m. returned at 11:30 p.m. and discovered that a sliding door that had been closed had inadvertently been left unlocked.

The brand of computer was not listed in the police report. Investigation into the incident continues.

D. 1000 block, North Guadalupe Street

SEGUIN — Authorities aren’t saying how much cash a burglar stole from a Guadalupe Street home sometime Friday.

According to a Seguin Police Department report, a resident who’d left at 2:45 p.m. returned just after midnight to find someone had broken in through a bedroom window.

Cash stored in the bedroom was missing, police reported.

Investigation into the incident continues.

E. 2000 block, North Austin Street

SEGUIN — A 1993 Caprice left parked on Austin Street for little more than an hour early Sunday was broken into by someone who stole the vehicle’s stereo.

According to a Seguin Police Department report, the thief forced a rear driver’s side window down to get into the vehicle sometime between 12:45 and 1:55 a.m.

The rear window mechanism was broken, police reported.

Value of the missing stereo was $160, the report said.

400 block, West Martindale Street

SEGUIN — A passenger in a vehicle that was found illegally parked on Guadalupe Street Saturday night was arrested after his furtive movements attracted the attention of a police officer.

Adam Cooper, 21, of Seguin, was booked for the alleged possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana Friday night after the vehicle he was in attracted police attention by being parked facing the wrong way on Guadalupe Street.

As the officer turned to stop, the driver began pulling away, and was ultimately pulled over in the 400 block of West Martindale Street. While talking to the driver, the officer reported Cooper attracted his attention by moving around and acting as though he wanted to hide something.

During a safety search of Cooper’s pockets, the officer found the marijuana, the report said.
