Herbert Gus Achterberg
Herbert Gus Achterberg of Seguin, Texas was born on April 16, 1923, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 22, 2009, at the age of 86 years.
Mr. Achterberg was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Barbara Koenig Achterberg on Jan. 16, 1986, after being married for 29 years.
Herbert is survived by his sister, Martha Margaret Hacker; sons, Robert Lee Achterberg of Seguin, Texas, David Anton Achterberg of Seguin, Texas and Allen Arthur Achterberg of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Katherine Ruth Achterberg of Seguin, Texas; grandchildren, Elaine Rose Achterberg, Barbara Lynn Achterberg and Robert Lee Achterberg, Jr.; and great grandchildren, Christian Jude Santos, Robbie Verow and Leslie Verow; and by numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held in the Goetz Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 from 5-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the Goetz Chapel on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow in the Achterberg Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to your church or charity of one's choice.
