500 block, North Camp Street

SEGUIN — An entertainment center and a video game console were reported stolen in a burglary discovered Friday afternoon.

According to a Seguin Police Department report, a resident reported leaving the home locked at 7:45 a.m.

Upon return just before 6 p.m., the owner of the missing property discovered a front window open.

Police believe that the burglars gained access through the window.

The missing entertainment center was valued at $1,800. The missing XBox 360 game console was worth $400, police say.

400 block, Vickers Avenue

SEGUIN — A burglar stole a 12-gauge shotgun in a theft reported Thursday.

Police say a resident left the home locked at 1:45 p.m.

Upon return at 5:30 p.m., the owner of the shotgun found a window open and its screen removed.

The shotgun was worth about $100. Nothing else was found missing, police report.

400 block, Benbo Street

SEGUIN — A driver who wasn’t wearing his seatbelt attracted attention that led to a misdemeanor marijuana arrest, according to a Seguin police report.

An officer stopped a 2004 Chevy Impala in the 400 block of Benbo at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

When the officer approached the car window, there was a strong smell of burnt marijuana coming from inside when Timothy J. Harwick, 20, of Seguin, opened the window.

Harwick was booked for the alleged possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana after a search of the vehicle revealed a bag containing a small amount of the illegal plant.

A passenger in the vehicle was not arrested, the report said.

400 block, East Court Street

SEGUIN — A 22-year-old local man was arrested for the alleged possession of marijuana after he was found apparently sleeping outside Sunday morning.

Michael L. Vasquez, 22, was found asleep beside a building in the 400 block of East Court Street at 6:55 a.m., police reported.

The officer noted a strong smell of alcohol, and when Vasquez stood up, he was very unsteady on his feet, police reported.

Vasquez was being patted down to complete his nap at the county jail when an officer found the bag of marijuana in his pocket, police said.

100 block, East Kingsbury

SEGUIN — Police are looking for a burglar who apparently couldn’t wait for a smoke early Monday.

According to a Seguin Police Department report, officers were dispatched to a convenience store in the 100 block of Kingsbury just after 5 a.m. when its burglar alarm sounded.

Arriving officers found the left front door of the business shattered and a large rock inside the store on the floor.

A store clerk was called to turn off the alarm.

A review of store video showed a Hispanic male smashing the door and then jumping over the counter to steal cigarettes.

In all, about $84 worth of cigarettes were taken, according to the police report.

Damage to the front door cost $300 to repair. The incident remains under investigation.

1600 block, Chapman Street

SEGUIN — A Chapman Street resident returned home from volunteering with his church Sunday evening to discover he’d been burglarized.

According to a Seguin Police Department report, the man returned home after clearing brush at 9:43 p.m. to find his back door had been forced open.

A pair of gold rings worth $900 and a watch worth about $850 were reported stolen.

The theft is under investigation.

500 block, New Braunfels Street

SEGUIN — A pile of scrap iron worth $4,000 was taken recently, police report.

The victim of the theft reported a quantity of railroad and angle iron stacked beside the building a couple weeks beforehand was found missing Wednesday morning.
