Merle Boatright Mahan
Merle Boatright Mahan, age 90, of Dermott, Ark. died Dec. 13, 2009.
She was born in Nixon, Texas on Aug. 20, 1919, to Emmett and Altha Elizabeth (Pullin) Boatright. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Mahan, on Feb. 23, 1999. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers: Collie Boatright and Wilburn Boatright; and two sisters: Bessie Elledge and Elsie Downs.
Mrs. Mahan attended the Good Shepard Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Mike Mahan and wife, Phyllis, of West Fork, Ark.; two grandchildren: Lee Beth Smith and husband, Jason, of Fayetteville, Ark.; Joe Paul Mahan and wife, Cheslee, of West Fork, Ark.; one great-grandchild: Finley Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 10 a.m. at Finch Chapel with the Rev. Michael Cowey officiating. Interment will follow in the Nixon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
