400 block, West Court Street
SEGUIN — A car stereo was reported stolen in a vehicle burglary discovered Saturday morning.
Police said the victim reported leaving a 2000 Mercury Cougar parked in front of the home at about 11 p.m. Friday.
Upon return to the vehicle at 8 a.m. Saturday, its stereo was found missing, according to a police report.
No sign of forced entry was noted.
According to the police report, the victim was unsure whether the vehicle had been left locked or not.
Police say vehicles should be left parked in a lighted area if at all possible and should be locked — even in the driveway.
500 block, Medlin Street
SEGUIN — Several musical instruments were among items taken in a burglary at a Medlin Street home.
According to a Seguin Police Department report, a resident of the 500 block returned at 7 a.m. Thursday to find the front door of the home swinging open on its hinges.
Inside, jewelry, two laptop computers, five clarinets, a flute, two camcorders and a VCR were found missing.
Value of the stolen property was not known.
No sign of forced entry was found.
600 block, West Kingsbury Street
SEGUIN — A vandal did $500 worth of damage to the back of a Kingsbury Street building in a graffiti incident discovered Thursday.
Police said someone spray-painted the rear side of the building. The report didn’t say what was written on the building, but estimated it would cost the owner about $500 to clean up or cover over the damage.
West College Street and Shannon Avenue
SEGUIN — A 27-year-old Seguin man was arrested on a misdemeanor drug allegation after an officer who saw him walking just before 1 a.m. Wednesday stopped to investigate.
Police said Randolph Barrett Davis ran off while a police officer conducted a radio records check.
He was found again in the 600 block of Dolle Street, and records revealed he was wanted on three unpaid municipal warrants.
A safety search prior to booking revealed a marijuana cigarette in one of Davis’s pockets, police reported.
He was booked for allegedly evading arrest, possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana and for the three unpaid misdemeanor warrants and taken to county jail, police said.
600 block, Campbell Street
SEGUIN — A would-be burglar caused $800 damage to a car late Thursday or early Friday without gaining access to the vehicle.
According to a Seguin Police Department report, the owner of a 2002 BMW reported returning late Friday morning to a vehicle that had been left locked on Oct. 16 to find someone had tried to break in over the interim.
The would-be thief attempted to pop off the driver’s side door lock and then damaged the tops of two doors and cab weatherstripping trying to find another way into the vehicle.
Nothing was found missing.
700 block, Heritage Drive
SEGUIN — A vehicle left unlocked is believed to have made it easier for a burglar to steal a stereo face plate in a burglary reported Wednesday.
According to a Seguin Police Department report, the owner of a 1988 Ford Mustang returned to the vehicle at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday to discover the face plate to its radio missing.
The face plate was worth about $200, police say.
The car had been parked at about 11 p.m. the previous evening, the report said.
It was not locked.
1300 block, North Bowie Street
SEGUIN — Batteries were reported stolen from 30 trucks parked on a lot at a north Bowie Street business.
Employees reported Saturday that over the past three weeks the batteries, worth about $4,275, had been taken from the vehicles.
No other information was available. Investigation into the thefts continues.
900 block, Bismark Street
SEGUIN — Official documents were apparently the target of a burglar in a theft discovered Thursday morning.
According to a Seguin Police Department report, the owner of a 1992 Toyota Paseo said the car had been left unlocked in front of the house for the past week.
Whoever got into the vehicle took its official inspection sticker and its owner’s insurance cards.
Police recommend vehicles always be locked when unattended — even in the driveway.
