Fair provides fun for the family

Published October 9, 2009

There is no bigger party in Guadalupe County than the one you’ll find at the fairgrounds this weekend.

The Guadalupe County Fair and PRCA Rodeo is a huge event which has something to offer absolutely everyone.

You want good food? Check that off the list. With giant burgers and funnel cakes from some of our local non-profit groups you can eat enough that you may need a wheelbarrow to get to your car.

Music? Check that off your list with an arena concert by the Randy Rogers Band tonight, tonight’s dance with Los Enmascarados and a dance with Kenny Orts and No Chance on Saturday night.

You want to see some of the finest creations that locals have to offer? From photography to crafts to cakes and livestock, you’ll find it all down at the fairgrounds.

Want to celebrate some of the area’s young people? You’ve got Miss Round-Up and Little Miss Round-Up this weekend as well as the annual Fair Queens contest — and if you haven’t seen a youngster holding on to a sheep as it rockets out of the chute in the mutton bustin’ contest, you have no idea what you’re missing.

The Guadalupe County Fair Association and all of the volunteers have worked tirelessly for the last few months to make this 126th fair a special event for everyone.

Take advantage of the opportunity to spend time with your friends, family and neighbors and take in all the fair has to offer.
