Tilman Irving “T.I.” Long Jr.
Tilman Irving “T.I.” Long Jr. passed away Thursday, Dec, 17, 2009, at the age of 83. He was at home surrounded by his family.
T.I. was born on March 7, 1926 in Yoakum, Texas, an only child, to Tilman Irving Long, Sr., and Ruth Baby Long, who both preceded him in death. T.I. attended Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, Texas, and joined the United States Navy at age 17. He served in World War II as a radio technician on the island of Guam and was honorably discharged as an Electrician’s Mate 3rd class. After the war, T.I. returned to San Antonio and in 1949 married Patsy Ann Lawson, the love of his life. T.I. and Patsy celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in June. They had two daughters, Dana Kay and Jana Ann. T.I. owned and operated Long’s TV Service, in San Antonio for 40 plus years and retired in 1994. They moved to Seguin, Texas, where they have lived ever since. They attended First Baptist Church. T.I. also served his community as a Guadalupe County Reserve Deputy Sherriff.
T.I. Loved life and everyone he knew. His amazing spirit will live in our hearts forever. Those who were fortunate enough to know T.I. would know that he loved to tell jokes and loved to laugh. He was quite the inventor and has shared his “Tee Eye Nite Lites” with so many friends. He will be truly missed.
T.I. is survived by his loving wife Patsy; his daughters, Dana Long Scheel and her husband Danny Scheel of New Braunfels and Jana Long Wright and her husband Ed Wright of Dothan, Alabama; his four grandchildren, Jay Matthew Scheel and his wife Sarah Scheel of New Braunfels; Summer Anne Scheel of Montgomery, Texas; Haley Laura Wright of Arlington, Va. and Edward Tilman “T” Wright of New Orleans, La.; and his great-granddaughters, Avery Scheel and Jade Bruton.

A visitation will be held in the Goetz Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, from 8-11 a.m. Funeral Services will begin following the visitation at 11 a.m. in the Goetz Chapel, with a reception to be held at the First Baptist Church of Seguin following Services. A family graveside service will take place in Mission Park Cemetery South in San Antonio at 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, other friends and loved ones may also attend the graveside services if they are able. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in T.I.’s name to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels.
