500 block, East Court Street

SEGUIN — A 30-year-old Seguin man who ran from a police officer who asked for his identification was arrested on drug allegations Sunday night.

According to a Seguin Police Department report, officer Michael Guerra stopped Armando Ramirez at about 9 p.m. when he saw Ramirez walking eastbound in the 500 block of East Court Street because he matched the description of a man involved in a theft two hours earlier.

Ramirez handed over his identification, but then fled the officer, who chased him down. In the struggle that ensued, Guerra used pepper spray to subdue Ramirez, the report said.

Other officers arrived and helped Guerra take Ramirez into custody. He was found to have outstanding misdemeanor traffic warrants — and to be carrying small amounts of substances police say are methamphetamine and cocaine.

Ramirez was booked for allegedly evading arrest or detention, resisting arrest and on two counts of possession of less than 1 gram of a controlled substance, penalty group 1. His bail was set at $16,000.

The driver’s side mirror was also broken on a nearby Chevy truck, and police reported that the guts of a smashed pumpkin were found all over the vehicles and in the street next to them. In addition, a third vehicle had a large dent believed caused by a pumpkin as well.
