Vets group celebrating anniversary

Published November 5, 2009

SEGUIN — Put on your boogie shoes for the Disabled Americans Veterans Chapter 61 45th anniversary celebration and dance.

On Nov. 7, the DAV Chapter 61 will celebrate 45 years of service to the Seguin area at the National Guard Armory.

The party begins at 7 p.m., and tickets are $10. Becky Hruza, whose selling tickets for the event said they are expecting a big turn out.

“We sold out last year,” Hruza said. “Everyone had a lot of fun, and we expect the same this year.”

The band that will keep the dance moving is Two-Way Street.

In addition to a dance, there will be an auction. Some refreshments will be provided.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the local DAV chapter that recently moved into their new location on Vaughn street.

Marlin Howze, the DAV Chapter 61 commander said the event will have something for everyone.

“It’s a whole lot of fun,” Howze said. “It’s a family-friendly event. People can expect a good time and a bunch of dancing.”

The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 61 work to help Seguin-area veterans receive their benefits, among many other community services.

Anyone interested in purchasing tickets for the event can contact Becky Hruza at 830-372-8160.
