SPD investigates after shots believed fired

Published October 29, 2009

SEGUIN — Police are investigating an incident in which shots were believed fired at a vehicle on Tor Drive early Wednesday.

Seguin Police Detective Sgt. Aaron Seidenberger said officers went to Tor Drive and Buffalo Gap at 2:33 a.m. after a 20-year-old local man reported another vehicle had chased his — firing shots as he sped up to escape.

None of the shots appear to have hit the victim’s vehicle, and a complete description of the suspect vehicle was not available, Seidenberger said.

“A 20-year-old Seguin resident was driving home when he noticed a car speeding up to get fairly close behind him, and the driver of that vehicle apparently held a handgun out the driver’s side window and opened fire,” Seidenberger said. “He apparently fired several rounds.”

Responding patrol officers were unable to describe the suspect vehicle, which police believe was a light-colored, sports model car — possibly a two-door.

But they recovered other evidence at the scene, the officer said.

“There were shell casings recovered, which indicates there were shots fired,” Seidenberger said. “What’s under investigation is to determine what connection there may be between the victim and a suspect.”

Seidenberger said there was no indication the shooting was gang-related or otherwise connected to the Oct. 16 incident on Anderson Street that resulted in the death of Garland Craig Taylor, 20.
