SEGUIN — The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s SWAT team and narcotics officers made three arrests and reportedly uncovered thousands of dollars in illegal drugs when they executed a search warrant in the 2500 block of Villa Vista on Thursday afternoon.
Sheriff’s Lt. Eddie Flores said the warrant was obtained after several months of investigation.
Deputies, including K-9 Unit Deputy Rudy Guarnero, arrived at the house just after 3 p.m. and Guarnero’s drug-sniffing dog Louie alerted on several locations inside the house. Investigators reported uncovering 40.9 grams of cocaine, 11.6 grams of heroin and a small amount of marijuana.
Flores estimated the street value of the cocaine was about $1,200 and the cocaine would sell for about $4,510.
“They were individually wrapped in single-dose units ready for sale,” Flores said. “The heroin was packaged in balloons and the cocaine was in really small Ziplock baggies. The marijuana was less than two ounces.”
Residents Juan Herrera, 50, his wife and their son John Herrera, 20 were home at the time, along with Ezekiel Longoria, 25, and a 35-year-old female.
Flores said Juan Herrera, John Herrera and Longoria — believed to be Juan Herrera’s step-son — were all arrested on a charge of possession of between 4 and 200 grams of heroin and possession of between 4 and 200 grams of cocaine.
The three men were taken to the Guadalupe County Jail, each with a bond set at $16,000.
The two women were searched by deputies and released, but Flores said they may face charges later.
Child Protective Services was called to investigate the living situations of two other family members, both of whom were not involved in the activity.
“There was a 3-year-old child who was at home when SWAT came in and a 20-year-old with Down Syndrome who coming home from school,” Flores said.
