Basketball dribbles into full gear

Published November 27, 2007

GUADALUPE COUNTY — Late comedienne Gilda Radner’s Saturday Night Live character, Roseanne Roseannadanna, had a famous saying, “It’s always something.”

Perhaps she was talking about high school sports.

While none of the area high school football teams are still alive in the state playoffs, the basketball teams are running full speed ahead as seven of the eight teams participate in games tonight.

Playing at home tonight are the Seguin boys (3-1) against East Central, the Marion girls (3-2) face Randolph and the Navarro girls (1-5) meet Medina Valley.

The Marion girls tip off at 6:30 p.m., while the Seguin boys and Navarro girls both start at 7:30.

Hitting the road tonight will be the Seguin girls (1-8, at Jefferson), the Marion boys (2-1, at Jourdanton) and the Lifegate boys and girls teams, who both open their seasons tonight at Round Rock Christian. The Lifegate boys tip off at 6 p.m., while the Lifegate girls start at 7:30, and both the Seguin girls and Marion boys begin at 8 p.m.Content-Disposition: form-data; name="story_summary"

Following tonight’s games, five of the six public school teams will host their respective tournaments, while the sixth — the Seguin girls — will participate in the Canyon Cougarettes Classic.

All six tournaments — Matador Classic, Marion boys and girls, Navarro boys and girls and Cougarette Classic — begin on Thursday.
