1400 block, Hummingbird Lane

SEGUIN — A 20-year-old McQueeney man was arrested on a burglary charge Friday morning after a police officer investigated a vehicle parked on the wrong side of the road.

Guadalupe Jose Torres Jr. was booked on a burglary of a vehicle charge and taken to Guadalupe County Jail.

According to a Seguin Police Department report, the officer was on patrol on Hummingbird Lane and saw a GMC Sierra parked facing the wrong way.

As the patrol car approached, three males jumped in the pickup and drove off.

The officer stopped the truck and on approach, noticed a purse laying in its bed.

Torres told the officer the purse belonged to a friend who he’d dropped off at a party, but a check of the name on identification found in the purse didn’t match the name Torres provided, and the owner of the purse was contacted.

The purse had been left in the woman’s vehicle just after midnight, and was not there when she looked after police called her.

There were other items in the bed of the truck that didn’t belong to the woman or to Torres, and investigation into the incident continues.

Dillon Brandon Perez, 17, was booked for the alleged possession of less than two ounces of marijuana in the incident, which occurred just before 11 p.m. Friday.

The officer stopped after seeing the unoccupied vehicle in Starcke Park West, and heard voices nearby.

Shining a light on the spot, the officer found Perez sorting marijuana while two other young men watched.

The other two were not booked, according to the police report.

SEGUIN — Burglars kicked in a door in an incident discovered Sunday evening, but apparently didn’t take anything.

According to a Seguin Police Department report, a resident of the 400 block of Burgess Street returned home just before 9 p.m. Sunday to find the front door kicked in.

Nothing appeared to have been taken, the report said.

Damage to the door was estimated at $200.

100 block, Greenway Drive

SEGUIN — A set of golf clubs was found missing from a Greenway Drive garage Friday afternoon.

Police say the victim left his garage door open after returning from a golf game, and a short while later, heard his dogs barking.

He walked outside and saw a Hispanic male carrying off his golf clubs, and tried to stop him, but the man ran off.

The bag, carrying assorted brands of golf clubs, was worth about $900, police say.

1500 block, Interstate 10 West

SEGUIN — A security camera was stolen early Sunday from behind an Interstate 10 business.

According to police, the victim called just before 8 p.m. to report that the security camera was missing.

Reviewing the security video, police learned the theft had occurred at about 1:30 a.m. The tape revealed a vehicle backing up to the camera and then it blacked out.

The missing camera was a color model worth about $120, police say. Investigation into the incident is continuing.
