Guadalupe “Lou” R. Rios
Guadalupe “Lou” R. Rios of Seguin, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009. Mrs. Rios was born Dec. 11, 1939, in Marion, Texas to Sisto, Sr. and Petra Reyes.
Later the family moved to Seguin where the family lived and worked. As a young woman, “Lou” married her first and only true love, Jesse G. Rios. The couple had humble beginnings, both working at the Aumont Hotel in downtown Seguin. As they began a family she chose her true vocation and calling in life that of a wife and mother. “Mom,” “Aunt Lou” or “Grandma Lou” had a great love for life and family.
She enjoyed visiting with her relatives as well as her friends. Mother was well known for her great cooking. To this day we all remember her awesome fried chicken which would rival even the biggest names in the restaurant businesses today.
Many blessings were bestowed to her in her lifetime among which are her grandchildren, Ruben Rios Jr., Harley-Marie Rios, ElizaRenee Rios, JeramiahEric Rios, Elizabeth Collene Rios, Jessica Cheyenne Rios, Kayla Rayne Rios, Danielle Emily Ricks Rios, Jacob Ricks and a great-grandson, Elijah Rene Rios.
Grandma “Lou” was and always will be the precious stone (Gema) of our lives. She will be truly missed. Our comfort comes only knowing that she has received her promised gift of eternal life in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was loved by all and truly was a great and hard working woman. Anyone who knew her was blessed to know her and was showed the meaning of a humble loving person. Our lives are better for having known her. A piece of our heart has died with you, mom, but the love you gave unselfishly will along with time fill the gap.
Mrs. Rios leaves behind three sons, Ruben Rios Sr. and wife Linda Ramirez Rios,
Eric Rios and wife Lena and Randy R. Rios, all of Seguin; sisters, Herminia Serna and husband David, Sr., Maria Dolores Reyes, Maria Inez Ramirez and husband Gonzalo; brothers, Geronimo and wife Maria, Sisto, Jr. and wife Mary Lou, and Raul Reyes, Sr.; numerous nieces, nephews, many other family members and friends whom she loved very much.
She is preceded in her journey of faith by her husband of 29 years, Jesse; parents Sisto, Sr. and Petra Reyes; brothers, Juan Reyes, Frank Reyes Sr., Gonzalo Reyes Sr. and infant grandson, Sebastian Miah Rios.
Palmer Mortuary will hold a visitation on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 from 4-9 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral procession will leave Palmer Mortuary on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at 9:40 a.m. for a 10 a.m. Mass to be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery.
