Seguin business to give away automobile

SEGUIN — J&A Collision is making it a very merry Christmas for one lucky Seguin resident.
Starting Saturday Nov 21, residents can register for a car from J&A Collision. Julio Rodriguez of J&A said they will be giving the car to a family who really needs it.
“It won’t go to just anybody,” Rodriguez said. “It will go to someone like a single mom working several jobs, or a family with only one car that doesn’t run well.”
The donated car will be gently used, and the crew at J&A said they will fix it up so that it’s as good as new and will be ready for Christmas time.
“We’ll do whatever we need to do to make it a really nice car,” Rodriguez said.
Residents can register at a family-friendly event being held at J&A from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rodriguez said the Seguin Police Department will be on hand to fingerprint children and teach them about drug awareness.
“D.A.R.E. will be there to educate the kids and parents about drugs,” Rodriguez said. “We will also have the police department fingerprinting the kids. We are trying to get as many kids as we can to get their fingerprints taken for the police department. My two kids will be getting their fingerprints taken. I think it’s really important, in case something happens and a child gets kidnapped. At least this way the police department has some way of identifying them.”
The event is free to the public. There will be hot dogs, sodas, and other refreshments. There will also be a bounce house for the kids to play in. Rodriguez said the crew at J&A Collision is really looking forward to the event.
“It’s going to be fun,” Rodriguez said. “We really wanted to do something to give back to the community. The car, and the fingerprints, and everything are our ways of giving back to Seguin.”
