Q. What are the recommended shade trees for this area?

A. Live oak. Texas red oak, cedar elm, Mexican white oak, Mexican sycamore, bur oak, anaqua and chinkapin oak all make good shade trees in this area. Plant them this fall so they can be established before the hot weather challenges them.
