As we start the new year, let’s pause and take a look back just a few years. Imagine the time is 30 to 50 years ago. If you were reading this column during that timeframe, chances are you would only be reading it in a newspaper or magazine. Today you may be reading it on a desktop computer, a laptop or perhaps on an iPhone. The rapid pace of these latest innovations is difficult to believe, and has changed the lives of people all over the world.

Our 16-year-old granddaughter, Harper, and her friends now live in a world of fantastic technology. However, last week I asked her a few questions about some of the innovations that have come about during the last 50 years, many of the things her generation has missed.

Floyd McKee is a native of Seguin. He is a retired Air Force Colonel and eight of his ancestors were among the 33 Rangers that organized and developed Walnut Springs and Seguin.
